Teaching and learning centers on campus are uniquely positioned as agents of change, given their position at the intersection of learning in the classroom and reporting of those efforts to major internal and external stakeholders. As such, they play a vital role in getting buy-in from faculty towards these larger goals of the institution. During this informative overview, we will highlight the efforts of the Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center (TennTLC), at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK), to advance teaching excellence and to work as part of a uniquely collaborative team that includes UTK’s SACS-COC liaison and the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. Taimi Olsen, Director of TennTLC, will give attendees an overview of the center and the resources it provides to the institutional assessment and accreditation work. Her presentation will focus on UTK’s assessment steering committee and the center’s role in the university’s forthcoming QEP: Experience Learning.
